Erika made her way into the waiting room, still holding her ribs, she could feel two that were broken and they hurt like a son of a bitch, but she wouldn't let anyone touch her. She was scared, scared for Jeremy. If he got here too late and died, then he'd only have 24 hours to decide if he wanted the immortal life. She was afraid that if she sat down, she wouldn't stand back up again, she settled for leaning on the wall. Erika looked down at her clothes, all blackened and holes in some spots from being stuck in the burning building with the other vampires. All because that stupid high picthed noise made her colapse. Then the damned vervain, she loathed John Gilbert for doing this too her.
Erika closed her eyes and leaned her head back against the wall, she had called Jenna on her way her. She had to come up with a story as to why Jeremy did this to himself. Erika sighed, thinking. She grimaced as pain shot through her again from sighing. She looked over to her left, wating for someone to come to her.

Gabriel walked into the hospital cheerful as usual, a big grin on his face, hands in his pockets. He was wearing some torn jeans, his worn out boots, and a common t-shirt. His parents never understood why he dressed the way he did. They were quite wealthy yet Gabriel never bother to show that aspect of his life. He knew on the drive over he was going to get a lecture from his mother she rarely ever called him to her work unless it was some long lecture about him or his father than she wanted him to fix or change though he usually just ignored her. Gabriel headed over to the waiting room where he immediately recognized a girl from school. Erika Mirazida, a immortal, to her she was cursed living the life of a 17 year old girl forever.
Though Gabriel envied the time she was given, what he could achieve in forevers time was a great thing to imagine. He did however understand the pain she was forced to endure in losing everyone she ever knew and cared about over and over. He also knew she had a crush on Jeremy Gilbert. He could see it in the way she spoke about him, to him, the way she looked at him though she was in all fairness pretty good at hiding it overall it was just in Gabriels nature to sort the pieces out and put them together. He did not know her on a very personal level but he did know her very well and more than well enough to know something was amiss here. Gabriel slowly walked over to her and stood in front of her his eyes catching every detail, every change from how she normally stood and acted, everything. His mind working a thousand miles and hour slowing everything down but the pieces he took in.
She was hurt, she was holding her side, broken ribs no doubt. The way she was leaning against the wall he could tell it was far worst than what she was showing it to be. From the way her cloths appeared he knew what ever happened must have occurred in a fire. He wondered if things were so bad why she was the only one at the hospital. Was she alone? What happened? His curiosity began to run wild. What bother Gabriel was that despite her physical condition, her mind seemed to be else where. She was concerned but not with her own safety, he was sure now that someone else was involved. He still did not know what happened exactly though. Gabriel spoke softly, calm, and caring not panicked or shocked but with a controlled concern. "Erika, Its Gabe, Gabriel Nikopol from school, You don't have to worry you are going to be just fine. I know your mind is else where right now and it isn't any of my business so I am not asking you to say anything but do know if you need to me do something for you if I can help in any way I will be right here until someone else arrives."
Gabriel had already taken out his phone and texted the situation to his mother so she might be able to send a doctor in right away for Erika. He stayed close to Erika but didn't touch her as he didn't know the exact significance of her injuries and didn't want to make things worst. Though he didn't expect her to say anything Gabriel had already made up his mind to investigate the situation and figure out exactly what happened because he felt like there was something more than a innocent accident here. Gabriel wouldn't stop until he found the truth, there was nothing he sought more than the truth. He was never one to let something go without having an answer it was simply in his nature to always know.

Erika looekd up as she saw Gabe standing in front of her. She knw that his mom worked here, and she knew him from school. She also knew that poor guy turned into a werewolf. She had known a few over the years, they were some of the happiest people around, they just loved life it seemed. She smiled, hiding all the pain she was feeling so well. Something she learned over the years, and it was a good thing to have learned. She had learned that if you showed pain, you'd get yuor ass kicked. Which is what happened when Katherine stole Stefan away from her in 1864. Granted, Erika was already immortal by then, and she had planned to find a way for both her and Stefan to live together forever, but hated him once he became facinated with Katherine. Oh how she couldn't wait to put a stake though the stupid bitch's heart. she knew that one day, she would take Katherine down, even if it meant it would be the last thing Erika would ever do. She'd make sure that she could keep Damon and Stefan, and Jeremy and everyone else safe from her.
She smiled at Gabe before she spoke, also hiding the pain, "I'll be fine in a few hours. Remember how they were rounding up the vampires? Well, Jeremy's jack-ass of an uncle used a device made in 1864 to cause vampires to feel agonizing pain for five minutes, thus injecting them with vervain or killing them. He used tonight, as soon as the fireworks started. It affected me for some strange reason and I got myself thrown into the building that was going to be burnt with all the vampires in it. I don't know how, but I managed to get out shortly after th blaze started." she said to him, "After I got out, I only then realized that the vervain was causing me to not heal or be able to use my own ability, which seriously pisses me off, anyways." she paused to take a breath, "I went back to the Gilbert's to tell Jeremy that both I and someone esle got out of the biulding and lived, but I was a little too late. He had taken some vamprie blood and overdosed on pain meds. we called 911 and gothim here. Their pumping his stomach, I hope I wasn't too late." said quietly, if she was too late, she'd have to stake Jeremy, and she had little desire to have to do that.

Gabriel listened carefully. He was not one to feel so much hatred towards another being though he did understand the fear that conspired within people when it came to vampires. He himself a monster in his own way could relate to vampires and found himself wondering constantly when the night would come after he changed that people would be hunting him as well. Though Gabriel did not personally see werewolves or vampires as monsters he knew perception was reality when it came to society and if thats how people saw them it would take a great force beyond Gabriel to change that outlook. Gabriel responded after seemingly dazing off in thought "I see, I might have to drop by Jeremy's uncles then and see if I can find then 'miss place' the device used so that this sort of this doesn't happen again."
Gabriel hated the violent and conflicted side of human nature. It tainted everything he believed and adored about it. He found it irritating that so many things that could be worked out were simply fought over. He wondered to himself if he could have prevented Erika from getting hurt if he was there. He wondered if he could have perhaps exploited a better solution. Gabriel wanted to reassure Erika of Jeremy as he knew how much he meant to her and knew thats where her concerns currently lye despite her own condition. "You know better than me that Jeremy has been through allot and yet he has always seemed to be a very capable individual. He is young but in my personal opinion he is quite strong, I truely believe he will be fine."
Gabriel smirked "Im due for a lecture about how I should be more appropriately dressing no doubt and presenting myself to people by my mother. If you need me to check on Jeremy for you I can't lie, I'd be more than happy to avoid my mother for a more important cause." Gabriel said jokingly not very thrilled about hearing his mother ramble. Gabriel was with all his purity a rebel by heart simply because his beliefs usually required him to act against what society and other people suggest was right and just no matter how wrong they were. Gabriel never fell victim to the influences of politics and media he knew and better yet understood what was just and right in the world and thats what he acted on. "Erika, I am sorry you had to go through what you had. Not even the vampires should have had to of experienced such a devastating act you described to me. Theres always a better way, I am sorry I wasn't there to do something." Gabriel said kindly

Erika smiled him again. She was so tired and wanted to sit, but she didn't really want to have to move. She remembered seeing John laying there on the kicthen floor, missing his fingers and bleeding. She shook her head, hoping to shake the memory. It didn't work. Erika had no idea where the device was, she didn't want it to fall into the wrong hands, which it very well could in this town. Anything was possible in this town. She kept wondering why the hell she decided to come back to this town. A town that hold so many horriable memories, one she never wanted to remember in the first place. She had tried to erase them once, but apparently can't.
Erika avoiding wincing as she let out a breath she didn't realize she was holding, "John's dead." she said, "It wasn't me though, somone killed him. No one went into the kitchen when we called 911 for Jer, so he's probably still there." she said quietly. All that blood, oh it wanted to make her throw up. Yeah, she'd watch Damon and Stefan have their blood, but it was gross or anything. Damon robbed blood banks and Stefan killed animals, it wasn't graphic. "I just can't help but feel so sorry for Jer, he lost his parents, lost the girl he thought he was in love with and then thought he lost myself and someone else. I'm not sure how much more he can take. I don't understand why he'd want to be a vampire though. Yeah, you can shut off feeling anything when you are one, but life sucks either way sometimes."
Erika looked at what he was wearing and laughed lightly wincing after wards, "You dress comfotably I'm going to assume, and with your family being rich, they expect you to what? Wear Louis Vatton? Expensive brands just to show it off? That's kind of... odd." she said, trying not to sound insulting, "If you wouldn't mind. I'm still going to be up all bloody night worrying about him." she listened to his kind voice, "It's alright, I'm a tough girl, years of practice you know? It's not the first time someone's assumed I was vampire, injected me with vervain and then tried to kill me. Thankfully, it wasn't with a stake this time." she joked lightly.

The last person to use the device was dead. This made things more complicated thus more interesting for Gabriel. He loved a good mystery. "It would seem this has turned into a full blown case then, that device should be found immediately, I am sure I will figure out what happened to it, I love a good challenge." Gabriel noticed Erika's condition wasn't getting any better. He wondered what was taking so long. He wanted to go out and just snatch a doctor up himself but he wasn't sure if he should leave Erika alone. She said that this kind of thing had happened before but how sure could she be that the vervain only hampered her healing process, what if it did more than just that, what if the injuries were more serious than she thought too. Gabriel made his final decision to stay until someone showed up. "I just wish this whole thing would end. Its a shame I am stuck in school. You know when I get out of here I am going to be a famous detective, Ill make sure no case goes unsolved and no one gets hurt because of the restrictions put on law enforcement. Ill be a private investigator and I wont let anything short of justice be upheld. I have watched too many good people get hurt to just stand by and let someone else take care of it. Its my responsibility now things will change soon, you'll see." Gabriel said confidently.

A dective, that seemed to fit him perfectly. She smiled at him, "I'm going to be stuck in high school for my entire life, no change. No nothing. I've gone to far too many proms in my lifetime." she said, looking up at the ceiling, "When people find out about me and that I was caught with the soon-to-be dead vampires, they're not going to treat me the same. Maybe this will be the last time I come back to this town. I never liked it much here anyways. Bad memories and stuff." she looked at him again, "I sometimes wish that I was never cursed with immortality. I hate it with a passion sometimes. Yu have to watch people you know or care about die. You have to pack up and move a lot. It just really sucks."
Erika felt herself sort of lean off to one side, she caught her self by placing a hand on the wall. Okay, she thought, so this may be a little worse than other expierences, but I can handle it. Oh who am I kidding, I'm going pass out soon. Not only were her thoughts filled with not passing out, but Jeremy. Her Jeremy. Her idiotic, stupid, dumb shit Jeremy. He was in for a speech from her once she was able to see him. Erika was now bracing herself on a wall, she could feel her injuries very very very very slowly healing. The Vervain was leaving her system, very slowly though. Enjoying her in pain, "I can't wait to read about various cases you've solved once you make it big." she said, once again letting out a breath she didn't realize she was holding, "ow." she squeaked.

Gabriel smiled at Erika "Your going to be stuck in highschool for the rest of your life? You talk as if someone is forcing you to stay in the same life. If I was immortal I would live a different life doing what I loved every lifetime. Maybe one century id be a police detective, the next a P.I. like sherlock holmes, then a journalist, maybe ill write my own mystery novels. There are so many possibilities, opportunities, so little time. You can't possibly limit yourself. Everyone gets a choice Erika if you want to do or be something else then don't let anything stop you. Follow your heart no matter how much it may scare you. Everyone loses something precious and I cannot relate personally to the losses you have to experience over and over but I do understand. And even for a immortal time is precious especially if the ones you love arnt immortal then it makes it all that much more important taht you do what makes you happy and not dread on some inevitable fate. You will always have the here and now so enjoy that because no future is certain."
Gabriel was beginning to get worried that Erika might be getting worst that her healing factor wasn't going to kick back in. What if it was something as serious as internal bleeding, the doctors seemed to be taking their sweet time. "Don't worry about what other people will think about this, I can take care of that if it matters that much to you. I am not always going to be around forever so people like you inspire me to do great things while I have a chance and trust that people like you will ensure that the world continues to change for the better and that the good I do never gets undone. In allot of way I envy you Erika for your curse is equally a gift. Have you ever realized how much good you can provide, the mysteries you could unlock, the secrets of the world. I sometimes wish people could see the world as I do through my eyes, perceive what I see everyday, this world is so precious to me with all the truths needed to be unlocked. If someone with no reason to fear death, with so much time, with so much experience is ready to give up what hope do I have?" Gabriel asked wondering why she wanted to leave everything behind so bad.

Erika smiled at him, "High school seems to be the only place that I fit in. I'm forever 17, I can't do much else. I went to college once, it was fun while it lasted, but I haven't gone back. I was a photographer once, had fun with that too. Hell, I was even a wedding planner at one point, but everyone though I was far too young, and that I should be in high school, so I went back to it. I met someone, dated them until I graduated, then told them I was leaving and left. Jeremy's the first person who I've actually fallen in love with that's human since Stefan." Erika sighed sadly, "Bonnie threatened Damon tonight, told him if he spills one drop of innocent blood, then she'll take him down. If Jeremy somehow managed to get himself turned into a vampire, then I'll have to kill him in order to protect my family. I can't do that." she said quietly.
She looked up at him after her gaze moved to the floor. People would still treat her as if she was a monster, not the same Erika that was happy and helped anyone who needed helping, "People are shit. I've learned that over my the years. People haven't changed at all, they've just changed physically, not mentally. They all think the same, do stupid things, feel stupid after they do this stupid thing. Much like he's going to feel once he wakes up." she said, "You seem to be the only acception to that. You're different, you give a damn about people, avoid doing stupid things." she sighed again as sh tought of Jeremy.

Gabriel chuckled faintly "I avoid doing stupid things? Well if you don't call sneaking into a meth lab with a bunch of armed criminals strolling around just to find the location of the baby for a mother that was forced into a life she wanted nothing to do with on account of them holding her child hostage stupid then yeah I try to steer real clear. It is true though peoples instincts will never change. A rebel will always by nature be rebellious, a player will always want to cheat, but in the end they themselves can change. Perhaps not for good reasons but I have seen it. The type of people I have presented for example. That rebel may take to some easy going banking job because he may see his rebellion fruitless. And the player stays faithful to his wife because the consequence of infidelity is much greater now. People can always change they must simply overcome their instincts. Thats what separates us from animals, we get a choice whether to give into our instincts or not. Don't lose hope just yet and don't fret over Jeremy becoming a vampire it hasn't happened yet and there is still time."
Gabriel held a his cheerful demeanor. It was times like this that he knew he had no choice in what he did. People could never know that through his smile and easy going attitude so confident and assured that his eyes held such sadness and sorrow. If people saw that someone like Gabriel could be beaten so badly by the weight of the world then what hope could they be inspired by from him. He couldn't help them like that. There had to be at least one that through all the chaos, loneliness, uncertainty, darkness that one could stand uncorrupted and uninfluenced by anything less than good. "So many experiences Erika, perhaps I could right a book simply on your life. The girl who lived forever. Through everything. And even through the many decades of being alive she still finds herself being surprised by the wonderful entity we describe as love. It would be quite an inspiring book I could tell you. Oh how I do envy you Erika."

Erika smiled up at him, "A book on myself, that would be interesting." she said, "I haven't lost hope yet, but I have to concider the possibilty and if it's true, then I have to prepare myself. So I can kill him, which will be very hard to do. I've had to kill vampires, but I've never had to kill one I've fallen in love with." she said as a doctor came up to her and Gabe. Naturally, he asked if she needed help and she told him no, she was fine a bit bruised, but fine. The doctor had told her that they got the drug out of Jeremy's system before any damage could be done. She breathed a sigh of relief at this. She wouldn't have to kill him anymore! Although, he did have a lecture from her waiting. She asked him if she could see Jer and he said yes, "I'll text you later Gabe." she said, placing a quick kiss on his cheek.
Erika followed the doctor down the long quiet hallway. She hated the smell of hospitals, all chemically and dead. She had a feeling that soon, Damon would have to break into the blood bank in the basement. She knew that they were getting low. She stood inside Jeremy's door way, "Hey." she said, seeing he was awake and not making eye contact with her.

Jeremy stared up at the ceiling tiles, wondering what the hell could have possibly gone wrong and silently cursing whoever had intervened. His throat was on fire, not from the thirst he had expected upon the transformation to vampire but from the tubes they had shoved into him to pump out the contents of his stomach, although a tiny part of his mind wondered what they had made of the blood in his stomach along with the drugs he had taken to end his life. Then again, this was Mystic Falls, who knew how many people here were actually aware not only of the of the existence but also of the presence of vampires here in town?
He closed his eyes against the agony, both physical and mental. How much pain was one person supposed to be able to endure? His parents gone. Anna, gone. Erika... he could hardly even bear to think her name. And to top it all off he couldn't even manage to put himself out of his misery. Tears rolled down his cheeks unchecked. He could even hear her voice, although he did wonder why 'hey' was all his imagination could come up with from her.
"I wish you were really here, Er, so I could tell you how sorry I am that I failed you," he said softly in reply to the voice in his head.

Erika watched the tears rolls down his cheeks, which looked as if they weren't has flesh coloured as the should be. She slowly walked over to his bed and sat on the edge of it. She wiped away his tears, then leaned down to kiss his cheek, silently wincing as she did so, "I'm really here Jeremy." she whispered into his ear. She had little intention to ever leave him. She kissed his neck before slowly sitting back up. She was now completely ingnoring the pain. Erika gently stroked his cheek, completely forgetting about the lecture that she had intended to give him once she saw how much pain he was in, most likey from learning that both herself and Anna had died and from the sore throat he probably had.
"You didn't fail me Jeremy." she said quietly. She probably looked like hell in is eyes and wished it could have at least rained slightly to wash off the various black smudges. She made eye contact with him, to make sure he knew that she really wasn't dead, "A little fire isn't going to kill me." she said, re-assuring him. She smiled as best could.

He looked at her for a long time, unsure if she was really there or if the aching desire to see her, to believe that she was truly alright, was making him hallucinate. But Damon had told him that she was gone, that they had killed her along with the vampires, believing her to be one of them. True that the man was a dick, but why would he have lied about this?
If this was an hallucination, it was a damn good one, he thought. The sound of her voice, the gentle touch of her hands. Even her scent when she leaned down to kiss him was the same, although it was marred by the smell of fire much as her beautiful face was smudged with dirt and soot.
The vivid image before him spoke and told him that she was really here, assured him that he hadn't failed her, and he wanted desperately to believe it. Slowly, tentatively, he reached out, hardly daring to breathe when his fingers touched her cheek - he had half expected the image to vanish.
"Erika?" he asked quietly.

Erika watched him, not removing her eyes from his. She kept her gaze locked, she had ot make him believe that she was real, that he wasn't hallucinating. She closed her eyes as she felt Jeremy's hand touch her cheek. She was happy, so incredably happy that he was fully human, still feeling emotions, and feeling unsure. She loved him, that's all she knew at the moment. That she loved him and that he was alive, a bit of a dumb shit, but alive. his voice was almost as unsure as his expression was. Erika covered his hand with her own, still smiling at her touch and fighting back the tears that were threatening to fall onto her soot covered cheeks.
Erika leaned down, wincing in the process and kissed his lips softly. Mental note, she thought, don't move for three days. She pulled away and looked into his brown eyes again, "I'm right here Jer. I'm not going anywhere." she said, her voice gentle and kind. Erika tucked a piece of hair behind her ear as she went to gently stroking his cheek, she had completely forgotten how ticked him she was. She had stopped feeling ticked once she saw his unsure expression, and those tears. Oh how she hated the sight, her Jeremy, crying because he thoght he failed her and becuase he thought she was dead, "I'm not dead Jer. I promise you that."
