Elena laughed, "Jer, I'm not trying to set you up with anyone. I don't meddle in people's love lives and you know that." she smiled at him, "I do happen to know of someone who does like you though, not that you'd care, since you don't want me setting you up with anyone." she grinned, "They have a really cool art booth set up, you know." she said.

Jermey shook his head. "Right, you're not gonna keep dropping little hints about whoever she is until I finally give in and ask her out. I know you better than that, Elena. You think that just because you've got that whole 'I'm in love and everybody should get to experience this happy little bubble' thing going, its somehow your mission in life to set everyone else up whether they're interested or not. Do us both a favor, and don't bother."
He looked over at where the art booth was set up, noticed Erika standing by it and shrugged. "Guess I might as well check it out, though. the art booth, I mean."

Elena sighed at his comment, "You're trying to tell me that you're not even the slightest bit interested in the fact that I know someone likes you? She's really a very nice girl and you two are closer than you think, believe me." she said, as she reached up to ruffle his hair, "Have fun Jer, I'll see you at home then." she smiled at him as she turned and walked back over to her bunch of friends.

Jeremy swatted at his sister's hand, too late of course. "Yeah, whatever," he remarked, walking over to look at the display of art projects. He smiled at Erika, who was looking at some of the sketches done by students.
"Hey," he said, peering over her shoulder. "That's really good, isn't it? You have any of your stuff here or do you just do surprise portraits of people sitting at the Grill?"

Erika watched Jeremy from where she was standing and looked away quickily as Jeremy looked over at her. She smiled to herself, praying Elena did drop some hints at Jeremy about herself. She sort of counted tomorrow as a date, but that was comparing notes for an essay, nothing more, nothing less. She smiled at the man running the art booth, then flipped through various sketches and stopped on one as she noticed Jeremy's name at the bottom of the page. She jumped a tiny bit as she heard a voice behind her. She must have been deep in thought. "Yo were the first person to ever get a suprise portrait done at the Grill. I had no idea that you drew, at all. Then again, I've been sort of a loner for the past year or so." she said, as she readjusted her bag.

Jeremy looked at the sketch and shrugged. "Yeah, I little. I mean, I used to spend a lot of time drawing, but I haven't for awhile. Are any of these yours?" He looked at the names on the bottom of the drawings. "Tyler Lockwood did this?" he exclaimed in surprise. "No way."

Erika smiled up at him, realizing just how much taller he was than herself, she gestured ot a few hanging up, "Yeah, a few of them are in this book too." Erika laughed at the surprise in his voice, "What? Surprised that some stuck up jerk who only wants girls who put out can draw?" she asked, laughing lightly.

"Well, yeah, actually. I mean, art implies culture, and culture implies... well not Tyler Lockwood anyway." He could think of about a dozen words he could use to describe Lockwood, and 'cultured' wasn't anywhere close to being on the list.
He grinned at her. "Let me see that book," he requested, flipping through it to find her work when she handed it to him. "You really are good, Erika. You should really go pro with this stuff."

Erika laughed, "He is more than what he seems. He's also got a really bad home life from what I've heard to." she said, tucking her hair behind her ears. She handed him the book with the various art work sub-mitted by students, "I never really thought about it, I mean it's just a past-time." she said, her cheeks becoming warm again.

"Can't imagine his home life would be much fun, since the mayor's as much of a jerk as he is," Jeremy agreed. "You really are good at this, though. And if it's something you enjoy doing that you're good at, why not make a career out of it? Why be stuck waiting tables or running a cash register, pouring drinks for drunks or... exotic dancing?"

Erika's head shot up at "exotic dancing", that's exactly what she was doing when Stefan found her in 1924, trying to get money so she could at least eat and have a place to live. She had then realized that he was completely joking, or at least, she thought he was joking, "I don't know, but I guess doing something I love would be a cool career option. I still have two more years before I have to actually choose something I want to do with my life." she said. In two more years, I'll have to leave and leave all of my friends...well the few I have here anyways. She sighed sadly at the thought.

"Well don't look so enthused about it!" Jeremy said, frowning. "I didn't mean to offend you, it's just that that ballerina there looks more like she's about to strip off than dance Swan Lake!" He held up the book so she could see the picture he was looking at.

Erika bit her lip to completely avoid burstin out into laughter. He clearly had yet to look at the name of the artist who drew it, "Um, Jer, did you look at the name on the bottom of the page?" she said. It was one of hers, one of hers from the begining of her Mystic Falls high school career. She did have to admit that the ballerina did look like she was ready to stripp off, as he put it.

Jeremy squinted at the scrawl at the bottom of the page and felt himself turning red. "Erika... shit. Oh, shit, I am so sorry!" he exclaimed, then completely ruined his apology by bursting into laughter. "I am such a jerk, please don't be offended, if I'd known that was yours I never would have...' he looked at her and closed his mouth with an audible sound. "I am just going to shut up now. Let me make it up to you?"

Erika tried to look as offended as possible, which lasted for all of thiry seconds as Jeremy burst out into laughter, "Your appologies kind of mean nothing when you start to laugh, you know." she said, smiling, "I'm not sure what offends me more, you making fun of my drawing or you telling me I should become a stripper." she said, completely serious, which also lasted all of thirty seconds, "I'm not entirely sure on how you make it up to me..." she said, pondering.
